Some background on MS Action. The History of MS Action. The organisation started as ARMS or Action and Research into Multiple Sclerosis, in 1983. This was after HBO or Hyper Baric Oxygen, was found, in the United States of America, to help people with Multiple sclerosis some years before. This business worked for a number of years, with people who had Multiple sclerosis only. After a few years ARMS got into financial difficulties and were forced to close their operation. This resulted in M.S. Action, who were Members of the old ARMS, taking over the premises and the operation.
M.S. Action went from strength to strength working with Members who were also volunteers. Over time it expanded taking on more Therapists and Members who made use of the new treatments offered.
In the late 1990’s HBO treatment was found to help children with neurological problems, like Cerebral Palsy and Autism. It was decided to help all people with nerve problems, whom our treatment could help, regardless of age, race or creed. To this end we have been offering places to children in our chamber for a number of years, when we could offer spaces. In over 15 years we have never had a problem helping children and never since the chamber started working have we had any problems with any age of a person using it, no matter how old. We are a small centre in Walthamstow, East London, that provides therapies, counselling and friendship to people with Multiple sclerosis, children with Cerebral palsy etc. and their families. We are the only provider of High Density Oxygen Treatment (formerly Hyperbaric Oxygen) in East, North-east and South London.
Established for over 20 years, we are a Registered Charity and receive no government funding at all. We survive solely on donations.
We are a Registered Company Numbered 21366411, established in 1984 and a Registered Charity Numbered 803187.
